Marie Matusz

Reservoir

Marie Matusz’s (* 1994) practice spans sculptural installations, sound, writing, and film, exploring the intricate relationships between materiality, memory, and narrative. Drawing from philosophical, sociological, and linguistic theories, her works evoke a cinematic sensibility—merging stillness and motion to create reflective spaces where past and future converge. By layering materials and choreographing spatial encounters, Matusz invites audiences to experience the fragile interplay of perception, time, and the vulnerability inherent in meaning-making. The individual works result from a process that is both artistic and curatorial, and can be understood as chapters in a larger narrative. For her largest exhibition to date a large-scale site-specific installation and a series of new works will be created for Kunsthalle Basel.
