The exhibition Come as You Are shows works by the artists who in 2023 were awarded a grant by the Kunstkredit Basel-Stadt. Many of the works were developed especially for the exhibition space of Kunsthalle Basel and are presented to the public here for the first time. The artists stand for their different ways of seeing, for their different experiences of reality, for their unique perspectives on certain details of the universe, and for their engagement with mythology, dream worlds, history, gender, and intimacy. Assembled here under one roof, their manifold artistic practices form a fleeting community of sorts.
Come as You Are is at once a gesture of welcome and an invitation to discover yourself and others in all their diversity and dissimilitude. The exhibition is rich, multilayered, and vibrant. It promises visitors not just a visual but also an auditory, olfactory, and tactile experience.
