Somewhere between abstraction and figuration, language and gesture, her artistic approach unfolds on thickly-layered surfaces made of unconventional substrates
Michaela Eichwald’s paintings can’t be classified easily. In front of the colorful worlds of the German artist, a model tries to fit into these very worlds and enter into a moving dialogue with the works. The experimental materials of the paintings additionally challenge the viewer to break open their own drawing materials and give new meaning to the surface.
