Coumba Samba (geb. 2000) beschäftigt sich in ihrer multimedialen und performativen Praxis mit den Auswirkungen institutioneller Strukturen auf individuelle und kollektive Identitäten und hinterfragt dominante kulturelle Narrative. Ihre Arbeiten reflektieren Themen wie Konsumkultur, soziale Dynamiken und die Schnittstellen von Technologie und Identität, wobei sie die Dynamik zwischen Mainstream-Kultur und subversiven Praktiken beleuchtet. Dabei öffnet sie den Blick auf das globale Geflecht von Macht und die Kontinuitäten des Kolonialismus, indem sie aufzeigt, wie koloniale Strukturen soziale und politische Gegenwart prägen. Seit 1996 wird der öffentliche Raum mit künstlerischen Einzelpräsentationen an der Aussenwand der Kunsthalle Basel mit zeitgenössischer Kunst aktiviert. Im Jahr 2025 lädt die Kunsthalle Basel den Londoner Ausstellungsraum Galerina ein, gemeinsam das Projekt von Coumba Samba zu kuratieren und auszurichten.
